Glen Spey Distillery
Glen Spey was built in Speyside in 1878 by James Stuart, who was also a licensee of Macallan at that time. Stuart bought Macallan in 1887 and Glen Spey was sold to W&A Gilbey. As well as two other W&A Gilbey distilleries, Knockando and Strathmill, Glen Spey became one of the main contributors to the Spey Royal blend. Today owned by Diageo, Glen Spey is very rarely seen as a single malt.
First Cask
First Cask is a series of specially selected single malt whiskies that were bottled as single cask, cask strength bottlings by Direct Wines.
First Cask is a generally undervalued series, with some fine examples of well-aged whiskies from renowned distilleries going for relatively low prices compared to similar ages and vintages from other independent bottlers or official releases.
