Glencadam Distillery
A small highland distillery which is ran by a small family run whisky company, Angus Dundee Distillers. When they purchased the distillery in 2003, a key part of their aims was to reinstate some older functioning parts of the distillery. The original water wheel that sits in the middle of the distillery was rebuilt and put back into working condition, it now powers the distillery with a percentage of its electricity. Everything about Glencadam is understated and rather old school, but that isn’t a bad thing, especially given the success of the brand in the last decade or so.
First Cask
First Cask is a series of specially selected single malt whiskies that were bottled as single cask, cask strength bottlings by Direct Wines.
First Cask is a generally undervalued series, with some fine examples of well-aged whiskies from renowned distilleries going for relatively low prices compared to similar ages and vintages from other independent bottlers or official releases.
